Two teams of canine contenders from 34 rescue shelters in the United States have hit the field for Animal Planet’s 13th annual Puppy Bowl on February 5, 2017. Team Ruff and Team Fluff competed in the puppy pile-up, which featured three puppies with special needs: Doobert, who’s hearing-impaired, Lucky, who’s missing a leg, and Winston, who’s both hearing and visually impaired. All 39 puppies on the Starting Lineup are open for adoption, and the puppies competed for the inaugural Petco Lombarky trophy. In 2016, the Puppy Bowl reached nine million viewers on cable.
