How to give a puppy a bath, training calm bath time behavior

Steph Marhle-Mishra of Good Karma Dog Training and Kristen Tedesco of Unleashed K9 Potential -New Jersey, both demonstrate with Steph’s personal dog, Cricket, a 9-week-old Australian Shepherd puppy, how give a puppy a bath. Puppy grooming can be stressful. This video provides helpful tips to make bath time simple, fun, and rewarding. Calmness is reinforced with the puppy’s daily kibble, and treats, as the puppy is lathered with Life’s Abundance shampoo, brushed, and blown dry with a Conair hair dryer. Many dogs are afraid of having a bath, afraid of water, and afraid of the hair dryer. Dogs and/or puppies that fear bath time will often shake, try to jump out of the tub, whine, drool, pace around, cower in the tub, and/or excessively shed. These fears can be mitigated, by positively associating each of these dog grooming tools at a young age, with the use of food, and two calm handlers. Taking the time to train your puppy to behave calmly during bath time, can proactively eliminate the occurrence of common bad behaviors such as avoiding the bath, and racing around inside your home covered in soap. Dog training is a process. It is not always pretty. It is absolutely NOT perfect. Dog training is not about perfection. It is about calm persistence. Watch right here, how Steph, and Kristen train Cricket on how bath time can be a fun, and even a confidence building event.
