Basenji Dog Breed Information
Basenjis are high-energy dogs who need and enjoy romping and running on a daily basis. They adore agility and lure courses. Although basenjis are no longer regularly used for hunting, they make wonderful family dogs and can live up to 13 years.
Basenjis are noted for being fierce protectors of their families. They require substantial early socialization with other individuals in order to be ideal companions. It’s an uncommon property of female basenjis because they have only one heat phase every year, between August and November. They also make their famous “yodeling” sound.
Basenjis are extremely easy to keep clean and maintain, requiring only a quick wipe with a towel or brush once or twice a week. Basenjis, like cats, spend a significant amount of time combing and licking their fur.
