The Basenji dog breed is characterized by the following characteristics:
Activity. Basenjis are energetic dogs who need an hour or two of exercise each day. This breed must always be kept on a leash. If they are not constantly managed, their hunting instincts and independent character will encourage them to chase animals. You may reduce their prey drives with proper socialization and behavior training, so they don’t tug on the leash every time they see a small animal. Make time for grooming and hugging, as well.
Character and personality. These dogs make wonderful companions for the family who is always one step ahead of them. Even inexperienced pet parents will enjoy these pups since they can acclimatize to apartment living. Simply ensure that you are getting enough exercise to keep up with their high activity levels.
