Brussels Griffon:
The Brussels griffon gets its name from their city of origin, which is Brussels, Belgium.
It was very popular in the 17th century with cab drivers that utilized them in their stables to rid them of vermin.
In the 18th century, Belgium Queen Marie Henrietta fell in love with this breed and began breeding them in Europe and across seas.
The dog-loving ruler became smitten with the breed, securing it a place in the lap of luxury, and in history.
Griffon is thought to be a mixture of the Affenpinscher, Pug, Belgian street dog and the English toy spaniel.
In the early 1800s, this canine was bred to catch vermin in stables. Today, they’re lovely lapdogs and family companions.
