Violently Beaten—Left w/ Bum Leg & HerJaw Dangling, then Locked in Dumpster

This poor girl didn’t ask to be left bloodied and beaten down, then TOSSED in a dumpster with the lid tightly closed; nor did she deserve to be. But sadly, she was. And now, she’s having to carry the burden – and insurmountable pain – of those cruel humans who decided to treat her this way.

Dora has endured a merciless existence full of torment, pain, and suffering. Her life has been a living hell – filled with incredibly inhumane cruelty that no innocent creature should ever bear. She’s broken, body and soul – and the sad truth of the matter is, much of it was largely done at the hands of humans. And now, she’s having to carry the burden – and insurmountable pain – of those cruel humans who decided to treat her this way.

Then, after someone finally heard Dora’s cries and whimpers were heard from within the dumpster, she then landed herself in the local animal shelter—which just so happened to be BSL, or “Breed-Specific Legislation.” It is a legal ruling within this county that targets specific breeds of dogs and makes it illegal to own them—most frequently being “pit bull types” and their companion breeds. Breeds that are wrongly thought to be dangerous. And due to the BSL in place, Dora’s ONLY shot out of the shelter was with a rescue or in a black garbage bag—and for obvious reasons, we weren’t about to let the latter happen.

Dora and the atrocities committed upon her reminded us EXACTLY what rescue means to us, and why we even got into rescue in the first place. And it’s actually why we founded our particular rescue, Key To Lion’s Heart and the mission we wrote: To give the dogs a chance when no one else will. So, our original “no, we’re too full” quickly became a, “F@#k it, let’s save this dog.” — After all, isn’t that what rescue is? And luckily enough for us, this dog was located right in our own backyard.

We ran to get her, before rushing off to the ER for immediate medical help. She is suffering an incredible amount of hurt: A SEVERELY broken jaw and a limp paw, which is either broken or dislocated. She is looking towards at LEAST one extensive surgery to fix her jaw and possibly another for her paw. Donations are urgently needed to help support Dora, as her medical expenses will be staggering – with her hospitalization and jaw surgery just the beginning.

Much of her past is (and will likely always be) a mystery, but one glance tells us all that we need to know. Dora is SAFE, she is loved, and what’s more, she will NEVER feel pain like that again. Please keep this special girl in your thoughts, and if you are able to assist with Dora’s care, please consider donating to this fundraiser or sending her a special “get-well” item off her wishlist below. Thank you for your kindness and support!
