昭和30年代に大人気になった犬種ですが、乱繁殖によって「キャンキャン鳴いてうるさい犬」というイメージが付いてしまいました。
いまは品種改良され、性格も穏やかでほとんど吠えないので室内でも飼いやすい犬種です。
