TINLEY PARK, Ill. — A Plainfield woman discovered an abandoned puppy inside a gym bag left in a store parking lot Tuesday morning.
The 8-week-old puppy appears to be a purebred Keeshond. She had no microchip or tag.
Christie Czubik says she spotted the bag in the back of the Target parking lot in suburban Tinley Park. She checked inside after seeing the bag move.
Czubik, who volunteers at animal shelters, says she happened to be in the right place at the right time. She is giving the dog a temporary foster home and reported the incident to Will County Animal Control. If no one comes forward to claim the dog within a week, it will be put up for adoption through a local shelter, Czubik said.
At this time, there is no further information about when the dog might be up for adoption.
