This is Dotty, she is a 5 year old ex – breeding dog from a puppy farm. We adopted her 6 months ago. This was taken a few weeks after we adopted her. Every morning she get’s so excited to go downstairs that she does this happy little song and dance! 🙂
More on Dotty’s background –
She was used for breeding in a puppy farm in Wales. She would have been bred 8 or 9 times in her 5 years living there. I don’t know much about the place she came from but I do know about puppy farms in general. They are usually kept in a small confined space like a crate or pen. They are usually kept in a barn or out building, sometimes without any light. They aren’t walked and receive such little human attention that they are often terrified of people when they are first rescued. They don’t recieve medical attention so sometimes come with health problems and aren’t groomed, so they are always in a terrible state when they are rescued.
Dotty was rescued by Many Tears animal rescue in Wales, who mainly rescue ex-puppy farm dogs. They foster out dogs all over the UK, so check them out if you are in the UK and looking for a rescue. She was fostered out to a lady in Warwickshire for a month who did a fastastic job. We adopted her to be friends with our other little dog (a chihuahua cross poodle called Ted) and the rest is history!
When we first got her she was very quiet and nervous but soon found her voice, as you can see in this video!
Although she still has some problems, like being jumpy if you make a sudden movement, we are working on it!
