I installed these to give a little more comfort and a larger surface area for my hands. The GL1800 Stock grips for me are a tad small. I replaced the Kuryakyn ISO grips because of tarnishing and loss of heat. After 2 sets I was fed up with them. The Foam grips seem to allow the heat to come thru better on the heated grips, which is nice when it is 30 degrees outside. Check for your bike specific grip, but the standard grip puppy w ill fit most bikes. I also have these on my Honda CB1100. Note: some I have seen use Hair Spray as well.. this was the method I used. (we did see too much soapy water tho)
