An animal lover rescued four adorable puppies that were left for dead hanging from a tree by their legs.
Darya Stepantsova was walking through a forest when she heard the helpless pups howling for help.
She following the sound of their distressed squeaking and made a horrifying discovery.
Darya found the dogs strung up from a tree by their hind legs, dangling upside down above the forest floor.
She made a mobile phone video of the terrified animals which were left to die in the woods outside the city of Khabarovsk in Russia’s far-eastern Khabarovsk Krai region.
Darya said: “I thought this was unreal, but they were hanging right in front of me.
“I could not tell whether they were dead or alive.”
Darya freed the little brown pooches, which were shivering from the cold and exhausted from their crying.
She then rushed them to the vets were they underwent worming and flea treatment.
Darya added: I could not really remember how I called the vets and how I got them in my car.”
She hopes her shocking video will help find a loving home for the adorable puppies.
Darya believes copycats could be responsible for tying the dogs to the tree following a spate of animal attacks in the Russian city.
Khabarovsk is also home to infamous animal torturers Alyona Savchenko, 19, and Alina Orlova, 20.
The girls provoked outrage in Russia after posting photographs and videos of themselves online horrifically mistreating animals.
The pair were arrested in October last year and there have been calls to jail them when they are sentenced later this month.
