Man dragged by moving car in California after driver steals his puppy

THIS is the horrifying moment a man was filmed being dragged by a moving car after the motorist apparently stole his puppy.

Dashcam footage recorded by a gobsmacked eyewitness shows the man hanging out of the side of the window of the speeding car as the driver races down the street.

Authorities are now investigating the incident which happened last week in Victorville, near San Bernadino, California.

Mawusi Fiagbenu, 39, of Victorville, who captured the footage on her phone, can be heard screaming ‘oh my God! Oh my God’ as the incident unfolded.

The clip shows the victim hanging for several minutes as the vehicle speeds down the streets.

She told the Daily Press, she couldn’t believe what she saw.

Recalling the scene, Mawusi said: “I was at the stop light when the light had turned green and I was about to go and put my foot on the gas when this car made a right turn and zoomed in front of me and I saw a man hanging out the window.”

“The driver was driving recklessly and (so) fast that I had to drive between 80 to 90 miles (per hour) just to catch up with him.”

She said she called 911 and stayed to help the victim.

She said: “He screaming and (was) in a lot of pain. You could tell one of his arms was not intact and dislocated and the skin on his legs were scraped off.”

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said the incident all started at an apartment complex.

The man was said to be walking with his puppy when a car pulled alongside him at which point the driver grabbed his pet and sped off, Los Angeles Times reported.

The driver is said to have stolen the victim’s two-month old pit bull.

The victim’s mother, Charlotte Sanders told Victor Valley News, her son reached into the vehicle trying to grab his puppy to rescue it.

But she said the driver closed and drove off at high speed trapping his arms inside the car.

Eventually, the driver opened the window and the man fell to the ground.

Her son was taken to the hospital to be treated for scraped knees and an arm injury.

So far no arrests have been made and man’s puppy has not been recovered.

Victorville Sheriff’s Spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez said: “The only description was a dark colored Honda, driven by a black male adult with a pony tail. Neither the suspect nor the vehicle were located.”
