A bizarre video has emerged of a motorist dragging a man down a highway after apparently making off with the man’s puppy.
Authorities are now investigating after the entire drama was caught on camera which saw the victim hanging on for his life as the car containing his dog sped down the street.
The incident happened last week in the town of Victorville, near San Bernadino, California.
According to the Los Angeles Times the man was walking with his puppy when a car pulled alongside him at which point the driver grabbed his pet and sped off.
The victim’s mother, Charlotte Sanders, told Victor Valley News that her son reached into the vehicle and tried to grab his dog back but the driver rolled up the window trapping his arms inside the car.
Cellphone video recorded by a woman driving in the car behind then showed that as the dog-napper drove away, the man was still dangling from the window.
‘Oh my God. Oh my God,’ the woman could be heard screaming as she recorded the incident on her phone.
For several seconds, the video shows the car being driven down the road as the man hung on from the drivers side door as he both struggled to free himself and also tried to swing his legs in the air to prevent them touching the ground.
As the car goes around a bend in the road, the vehicle appears to speed up.
Eventually, the driver rolls the window down, releasing the man who then falls to the ground.
The woman who filmed the ordeal claims that it lasted for several minutes and that she called 911 to assist the victim.
She explained to the Daily Press that the man screamed in pain as the skin had been scraped off his legs.
There have been no arrests in connection the incident and the man’s puppy has not been recovered.
