Here is the newest member of the Greensboro Police Dept’s Canine Unit, Karson. He is about 13 weeks old at the time of this video. This video demonstrates a basic run-off, which is how we begin to train Bloodhound puppies in trailing. The ability to trail is an inherent trait Karson possesses. We are simply modifying how he trails and will follow a tiered process in training which allows us to steadily increase the difficulty of the trails. Karson is enticed with his reward (training treats) and a scent article. The idea is for Karson to learn that following the scent of the article to the man, will yield his reward.
