Erica Mahnken received a call about a dog that needed saving in early January and jumped into action. The 1-year-old pit bull they found has now gone from rags to riches after she was rescued from a crack house. Mahnken said the pup, Ashley, was not in good condition when they found her. She was extremely malnourished and had cigarette burns on her head. The couple called friends at a fire station to ask if Ashley could stay with them for a few days until they found her a place to stay.
