StandUnited.org: Common Core, NAFTA, and puppies!

*Common Core*

“The Common Core State Standards Initiative (CCSSI) was the Obama administration’s endeavor to create a standardized national K-12 curriculum. Implemented in 2009, Common Core was intended to improve educational outcomes and “level the playing field” for all students. Instead of making things better, the quality of education that American students receive has degraded.”

*NAFTA*

“The current structure of NAFTA gives Mexico and Canada an advantage over the United States, and makes it difficult for American small businesses to competitively sell abroad.

One example of the unfair market advantage that NAFTA gives Mexico and Canada is the “de minimis” threshold (DMT). If a business in the United States is sending a shipment to a foreign country, and the shipment’s value exceeds the foreign country’s DMT, the American business must pay additional fees.”

*Puppies!*

“The American Kennel Club runs countless dog shows every year, including the Westminster Dog Show. These shows highlight purebred dogs (of which the AKC manages America’s largest registry) and scores them according to their breed standards.

A dog can only enter AKC shows if it is registered as a purebred AND both its parents are registered with the AKC as the same breed. Meanwhile, an estimated 3.9 million dogs will end up in U.S. animal shelters this year.”
